There are general contractors who use the services of many sub contractors to do their work. There are many different types of sub contractors and many of them specialize in at least one trade and sometimes more. Often times not only do these sub contractors work for general contractors, but they also contract work on their own.

The home building and home improvement industry has truly evolved  into a network of specialist today more so than any other time in its history. Specialist spend the bulk of their time doing one specialty task, but it's not uncommon for some specialist to be skilled in more than one specialty or trade.

Although it is rare, especially on a small scale, but there are some drywall contractors that offer full service drywall work; true, it is rare but certainly not unheard of.
